If you're so into film that you have an interest in the technical process, even if you don't like Smith's movies, you'll like this. Kevin Smith has a pretty unique "outsider" perspective on the world of movies and he's got a lot of funny and interesting things to say. My favorite part is probably Smith's narrative about his experiences with the singer Prince; I had no interest in either Prince himself or his music, but now I'm really curious about the guy, based purely on Kevin Smith's commentary. I think that bit is on the second disc.
Other than that, this is just a fascinating "outsider's" take on the movie industry and the experiences of one perceptive and creative guy. It does run rather long; I would suggest either an intermission between discs -- or just don't worry about watching them at the same time, wait a few days in between. |
