The Williams movie machine...

Robin Williams has been creating a stir in Hollywood with his "against type" performance in both "Insomnia" and now "One Hour Photo" and for good reason! Though he's always been an extremely diverse and talented actor, his comedic personality and humorous genious have kept many people views of him limited. Director Mark Romancek's experience with music videos comes in handy here in creating a slick looking movie that tells the story effectively. Though a strong subject matter, after one brief pivitol and shocking scene, I expected a much stronger conclusion and like other reviewers was tremendously let down by the sugary, watered-down ending. Still, Williams keeps the movie afloat and because of him, "OHP" is well worth watching.

Stylish and a new take on an old theme.

I have also seen one hour photo and have a differing opinion then the other review. I loved the stylized look of the film and though the stalker theme has been done to death in films this film presented it in a very enjoyable way. Robin williams did a great performance in this film. some great small roles from gary cole and others also rounded the cast. I was actually very impressed with connie neilsen and her performance as well. Though it isn't the same type of film this film I would compare to something like unfaithful. Both movies has very similar I have seen this to death type of stories but both films also have such amazing performances they overcome the genre status of the material and just astound. unfaithful with diane lane's performance can compare to some of the one hour photo's cast performances in the film by expressing more then you've seen from the typical roles these characters fall in before. it makes you care and draws you into the film more. The actors are Just giving their all to the film and that is what makes it work. The one negative I would give to one hour photo is like unfaithful the ending I was not at all happy with. The fact is though that the ending isn't what you expect and that actually breaks convention a bit and shows that this film is not a typical stalker film as well but I do wish without giving away the ending I would have liked to have seen more of the aftermath of the final ending then was shown.

More tedious than suspenseful

I was very much looking forward to this film, and ended up very disappointed. While the concept is great, I found the execution wanting. The characters are fairly two-dimensional; unbelievable enough to not be sympathetic to them - any of them. The plot was disappointingly predictable. I went in hoping for a dark, ingenius thriller, and ended up watching a somewhat tedious film with very little suspense.
