| Creepy, oozy, fascinating. Cronenberg's first film has echoes of J.G. Ballard's novel 'High Rise,' so it's no wonder he would later do an adaptation of Ballard's 'Crash.' The 'dream' monologue that appears towards the end is haunting, vintage Cronenberg, and the ending is darkly hilarious. There isn't a film out there that captures the feeling of late 70's metropolitan Canada any better. |
