The Alien and Predator franchises have both been pretty patchy. Atmospheric and tense, the first Alien vs Predator was a high point for both. This installment is definitely a low point. It's just string of violent encounters between aliens & predators, aliens & humans, predators & humans, etc., with no attempt to bring anything but bloody carnage to the screen.
The film transgresses a few unwritten mainstream cinematic conventions in terms of what we might call "acceptable" victims, but the results come off simply as self-conscious and labored efforts to be "edgy" or "extreme."
A real hack job in short, with nothing at all to recommend it. |
