| The problem with Top Gun is not that it's 80s (whatever that means); it has nothing to do with optimism or naivete; and "testosterone poisoning" is a good thing (vide Peckinpah). The problem with Top Gun is that it's directed by Tony Scott, stars Tom Cruise, and -- on top of it all -- is a piece of crap. |

Full disclosure: This isn't the kind of movie I usually enjoy...
I didn't care at all for the characters (testosterone poisoning), the plot was simple, but the cinematography was superb!
If you like adrenaline-films, go for it. |
