Since Mondo Cane translates to A Dog's World, we can only suppose that Mondo Topless means Topless World. No, the title does not refer to a world without the Arctic Circle. Nudie king Russ Meyer aims his camera at various "traditional" ethnic ceremonies, focusing upon amply endowed females who insist upon jiggling their mammary glands at the slightest provocation. While all this is going on, the offscreen narrator expounds loftily, just as if we're watching a sobersided PBS documentary. For all its nudity, the 60-minute Mondo Topless is about as provocative as a home economics class. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

This film is so much fun! Some friends and I decided to rent this after we heard that the world had lost Mr. Meyers. Don't watch this movie expecting to see anything resembling coherency or plot, it's all about BREASTS, the bigger the better! Russ Meyer's spends 61 minutes exploring his favorite fetish with nothing but topless women shaking what nature gave'em to some of the swingingest tunes ever put on celluloid. The narration is silly and so over the top, but the best part is how he keeps referring to it as THE topless, because apparently in his world it is more than just a state of being, it is an entity unto itself. This a great film to watch while drunk and feeling silly. I give it a 44DD rating!!

This is just plain painful to watch. It feels like a trailer for itself though the first five minutes, then explores 'topless' (presented as a lifesyle[?]) by visiting a wide variety of exotic dancers and models in the U.S. and in Europe. I understand much of the footage is re-used from another RM film on European strippers.

The narration is annoyingly bombastic and silly throughout.

I've never really understood the appeal of Russ Meyers, but this must be his weakest film.

The only way to appreciate this movie is to put yourself in the appropriate timeframe -- the 60s -- and in some podunk town with an 'art theater' where looking at big boobs in a dark room is the highlight of your week...

If you want to see Russ Meyers at the height of his 'powers', I recommend "Faster, Pussycat, Kill, Kill!"

DVDs you can't find for online rental anywhere else (so far). Does NOT include 'adult' titles for obvious reasons. Updated 10/29/2006
