You'd think a film wherein all dialogue is sung would bug the crap out of you, right? Maybe not, maybe not at all. This is by far one of the lovliest french films of the 60s-the colors are so sweet your teeth hurt, the actors move like dancers, and the tragic/mundane ending crescendoes like an operatic death. This is a way better movie than Les Jumelles de Rochefort, which quite frankly sets my teeth on edge it is so campy.
And don't even get me started on Deneuve. Grrrrr-owl, that woman is preternaturally hot as all get out! |
