| After viewing Commandments, I had to find out who was responsible for this wonderful film: some guy named Taplitz. I looked him up, and the poor guy was writing for television! Then I came across Chaos Theory, which--although not quite as clever as Commandments--is another great film. And I have to ask myself: why is this guy wallowing in the quagmire of television? Television is to video what AM radio is to music. Give it up, Taplitz. Quit your day job. Jarmusch and Errol Morris would give their right arms to make films as good as yours. If anyone out there is looking for original, substantive films, check out Chaos Theory and Commandments. And casting Emily Mortimer was a piece of genius; she's a highly underappreciated actor, as her performance in this film proves. |
