Not much effort was put into this English version of Dangaioh. To my disappointment, this DVD is strictly an English dub. The voice acting is mediocre. Laurence Guinness is mentioned as the producer of the English version who also produced the English version of Ghost in the Shell. If someone wrote the English script of this OAV they didn't take credit for it and rightfully so. No attempt was made to follow the Japanese script. Instead the producer opted for a ad lib parody like those seen on Mystery Science Theater 2000.

I rented this OAV after watching The Great Dangaioh series hoping to gain a different perspective of the anime. There's a 10 minute introduction on the OAV that appears to be a recap of the original TV series--it's poorly done. I'm wondering if it was thrown in the English version to help explain the story. By the way, this anime claims to been recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound. If it was, I was not impressed.
