This performance video is a collection of highlights from standup comedy routines made during a tour across America during the summer of 2002. Directed by C.B. Harding (The Osbournes), The Blue Collar Comedy Tour Movie also incorporates behind-the-scenes segments with the individual comedians. Along the same lines as The Original Kings of Comedy, but marketed toward a radically different crowd, this comedy concert headlines the top names in so-called "redneck" humor: Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy. This film arrives after the four performers spent two years on the road and released the best-selling comedy record Blue Collar Comedy Tour Live. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide

They say you can't talk about rednecks unless you are one... and I are one, so: Four of the greatest standup comedians in the South share a stage, and that's just about all you need to know. If you like standup, good; if you like humour about rednecks, or just average people in general, great. It's not kid-safe clean but that just means us grown-ups can laugh harder. Basically the four comedians take the stage in turn, with each set bridged by their hilarious antics in the real world - and fart jokes are taken to a new level. Then at the end they take the stage together, and play off eachother for a few more minutes, which is beyond most doubt the best part of the show. Also, for those that may have watched this on Comedy Central, it's worth noting that some parts of this didn't make it to the broadcast for reasons that I can't see; nothing that bad got cut out, but its worth seeing on dvd for these, because they're pretty funny. Those without Southern roots or relatives may want to watch parts of this subtitled or with a copy of "How to speak Southern" on hand. The rest of us might at well just sit back and laugh at ourselves for an hour, because this is the best DVD to watch if that's what you want to do. |
