Terry Gilliam does the cartoonish and even the cartoonish live action better than just about anyone, but not until this film did he really find a balance.
You'd think a movie with a noticable theme of constant drug usage would push him over the edge, but nope, and it is really darn funny - no offense to Debbie Reynolds.
Oh, and look for the future 'Spiderman' who briefly falls in with them before dashing away into the desert. |

| a hilarious and convoluted story shown in a truly beautiful way, with an excellent cast, fear and loathing was definitely worth a see. the colour, the wide-lenses, the acting; everything spoke of the drug culture that hunter s. thompson wrote about in the book by the same name. funny, too! benicio del toro AND johnny depp... who could ask for more? |

| acting like a crazed manic depraved drug addict in las vegas. sounds like a great weekend.. but hunter s thompson tread that ground long before it was feasible. dripping full of cynicism and overwhelming ability to understand the world and all it's particular nic's and nac's. the filming of this drug era novel..always figured too hard to be a reality.. yet of course.. mr gilliam gave the book the proper screen vision. |
