| For the neophytes to Spanish cinema, this is an amiable Madrid urban (more or less) romantic comedy about a middle-aged woman (sassy Almodóvar girl Loles León) with apparently just gay male friends (would that make her a "fag hag" here?). She and her bossom studly hot-shot gay lawyer friend go through the seasons of love found and lost with a background of feisty, laughter-prone gay friends. Did I mention this is a gay-friendly movie? Not that there is anything wrong with that, as Seinfeld would say. The movie makes you laugh often enough, specially when Loles goes into a rant (she´s great at that), and it doesn´t go into depths (probably a wise choice). All in all, very Zeitgeist. |
