Dreamcatcher starts off as a supernatural story of gifted individuals and then becomes a alien accident with gore thrown in and a outbreak kind of government operation.
It is a definitely a worth watching movie if you like this sort of mixed genre, ala X-Files, has it's moments of chills, the camera work is superb with various angles and some very scenic locations.
I found many concepts to be pretty cool including the memory warehouse of Jonsey, the initial laying out the skills, the weather detecting man and so on.
A few reservations, the name Dreamcatcher does not really apply, multiple angles can be expanded and the ending location needed some work.

To sum up, this is an awful movie. We learn at a young age that when writing an essay, your intro and conclusion must be the same and your title must make sense. With that in mind, we can assume that the makers of this film could not be at more than a third grade writing level. Not only is the movie not about dreamcatchers, but the plot jumps from one absurd idea to another. Here is a synopsis- four young boys help a retarded kid who gives them magical powers. After they grow up, they are attacked in a cabin by aliens. Also, one of the men gets possessed by an Englishman named Mr. Gray. The end. Yes, the movie really is that dumb. If the plot isn't bad enough, the movie is also a blatant rip-off of other movies like Independence Day, Aliens, etc. These people have no shame; they even use scenes from other Stephen King movies like It and Stand by Me. There were only 2 good scenes worth noting. The animals running in the forest in fear and the bloody a-hole in the bathroom was great. Overall, I do not recommend this movie and if you chose to watch it- I'll have to say I told you so. |
