Synopsis
First-time feature director Marc Munden's Miranda is a story about a man obsessed with an elusive woman. Frank (John Simm) is a librarian who falls hard for Miranda (Christina Ricci) the second he sees her in the library. She is secretly helping the nefarious Christian (John Hurt) in a real estate scam involving the library. Miranda, a master of disguise, soon travels to London where she goes to work on Nailor (Kyle McLachlan). She does not know that Frank is following her. Miranda was screened at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

Not sexy, just creepy. by PMartens January 16, 2009 - 4:41 PM PST

I was a Twin Peaks fan for a stint, so I thought Kyle MacLachlan would be a good fit for the obsessive employer , but he really does a mediocre job, in fact, everyone does. The movie feels much too long, and the dragged out feeling ruins an already badly written story. This movie's plot has great potential, but the it isn't sexy, or funny, or scary, or even creepy enough to be cool, it is just a creepy, poorly acted, feigned attempt at a half-erotica (some sort of softer softcore, I don't even remember any nudity, just dry humping in clothes). The worst part was the costume design; I don't think they could have made them look any less drab and unattractive if they wrapped them all in burlap sacks. I'd say skip it, even if Ricci rocks your socks.

a few good 'date rentals' that don't feature Affleck!
