I loved this movie! I saw it twice in the theater and I would pay to go again, if I could, before seeing
"The Matrix: Revolutions". Yes, nothing will compete with seeing the first one of the trilogy the first time, but still, this one moves the story on a bit, it has great, great action scenes and some new characters. And I have heard and read so many complaints about the so-called "rave" scene in Zion, well, I loved that, too. What, you don't like to see good looking people dancing intercut with a great looking couple FINALLY having a chance to make love? Why does it always have to be about kicking ass? And has no one heard of "End of the World" parties or even "Eat, Drink, and be Merry for tomorrow we die!" But when it DOES kick ass, it kicks like no other movie I have ever seen - like that incredible battle on the freeway and the Agent Smith to the nth power battle. I could study them for days! As for believability, well, number one, you have to buy the basic idea of the Matrix. Then, there is a key scene in this one that foretells a revelation that I think that is coming in the next film....but I don't want to mention it yet and spoil it, where so many who may not have seen it yet. But it is in my queue and eagerly awaited! But this *is* the middle of the trilogy and don't expect to have everything answered or resolved. But keep your eyes open and take nothing for granted! It does help to have a spiritual sense of the Hindu concept of maya, I think.

Well, after the thrill of the first Matrix I sat down, popcorn in hand for the follow-up. The movie was a huge let-down. The appeal of the first Matrix was the portrayal of an 'average Joe' being helped and trained to live in our 'digital dream' of reality. We felt a kinship to Neo and wondered at the perceptions of our reality. However, in Reloaded, we are subjected to scene after scene of "Zion" and its rituals. We are also given the package of Neo now being some kind of 'messiah' that acts and is treated as a messiah.

The movie was too far removed from believability (I know this is a strange statement) and to wit, coolness. Some excellent special effects but at the end of the day Zion turned the movie into a Zero.

disappointing

i went to the first one with low expectations and was surprised i actually enjoyed it - a lot
this was just teeeeedious
overly repetitive action scenes (that fight on the truck - oh no will he fall off? come on...)
the rave in zion
and a lot of the effects just looked really bad
the cartoon neo jumping on the cars
what a let down
i'll skip seeing the next one in the theater
