Troll/Troll 2 back to product details

Michael Moriarity freak-out #2, collect 'em all
written by DaveS425 November 24, 2007 - 2:21 PM PST
In the '80s Michael Moriarity tried to liven up the grade-Z movies he appeared in by inserting a Val Kilmer worthy bit of oddness.

In Q: the Winged Serpent ('82), it was taking time out for a bit of Tom Waits piano weirdness while Quetzecoatl is munching on various New Yorkers.

In Troll ('86), he rocks out with Stones music while the Troll terrorizes the family.

Saving the best for last, in It's Alive III: Island of the Alive ('87), he sings a sea shanty while piloting a yacht full of hideously deformed mutant babies. Better than Shatner!

So bad it's the best movie ever

Troll's main selling points are a pre-death Sonny Bono and Julia Louis Dreyfuss in a skimpy elf costume. The real gem here is Troll 2, a magically inept family fantasy directed by a gore-movie veteran. Probably the ultimate realization of the "so-bad-it's-good" pseudogenre, Troll 2 is so vibrant and charming that you'll be able to enjoy it over and over again. It's as is Ed Wood directed Return of the Jedi and made a good movie of it.
