I have never got around to seeing this movie. It's just one of those movies that never made it to the top of the list. Well, I just watched it last week and I was not let down. This is one of those movies that seems perfect in almost every way, including the ending. Being a period piece, it is set with all of the right elements. None of the design is too stylized or overdone. I feel 1936. The plot is pretty straight forward, fairly simple, but still very engaging. The chemistry between the O'neals is evident in their acting and it just works. This movie seems like it could have been made 5 years ago as opposed to 1973 when it came out. I think this speaks to how good of a job they did with this movie. Highly recommended.
