Historic! Iconic! Ironic! by JPielaszczyk February 2, 2004 - 12:48 PM PST

First off, kudos and reusable nalgene water bottles filled with artesian glacier-meltings to GreenCine for getting this DVD out to me before its appearance at the SF IndieFest on February 7th and 15th. Are you folks awesome or what!?

I'd considered myself fairly hip and knowledgeable, but this war completely escaped my notice. (Too much spam to delete, I guess.) We've got Sandow Birk to thank for his haunting and hilarious artwork--since, incredibly, no photos of the event were preserved. The IndieFest program guide says it best: "Armies of unemployed actors clutching headshots battled amateur web designers with iBooks in their back-packs." Hey there, director Sean Meredith, maybe you and crew would consider a prequel to "The Great Election of 2004."

Well, I Thought It Was Funny

Shades of humor culled from my rental history for a friend's consideration.

Best of the many fine (and not so fine) faux-docs on DVD. Most of these are satirical, and often knee-slappingly funny, in nature; a few more serious. Still waiting for David Holzman's Diaries on DVD.
