Just as life finally returns to "normal" , a new girl shows up spying on Suguru. Who is she? Another combat android?! Who could she be working for? A new mystery besets our friends as Suguru and Mahoro try to determine whom this clumsy and shy android could be. In the meantime, Mahoro has adopted her as a little sister and a maid in training. Unfortunately, for our new maid, Minawa gets to experience Suguru's frenetic lifestyle, which includes Mahoro's plan for a larger bust-line...

The first "Mahoromatic" series was OK: lighthearted, amusing, cute character designs, several really good scenes and no more misogyny than your average shounen anime. Those who move on to "Mahoromatic 2" will notice a significant initial drop-off in quality. The characters become noticeably less interesting, the story more trite and sentimental. Then about halfway through, it rather suddenly becomes much more serious and intense, almost as though the animators suddenly woke up and discovered they had intended to tell a serious story about passion and sacrifice all along.
Not in a good way. Of course this is a Gainax product after all, and occasional good scenes appear right through to the end, but the juxtaposition of bawdy fanservice comedy and serious emotional trauma never works well, and ends up leaving the viewer with a sense of confusion. That's a shame, because this could have been a very good show. It's still worth a watch, though you may have to clench your teeth through the first few episodes.
The story comes to an end in this series. The "Mahoromatic Summer Special", which was made later, is more like an isolated episode from within this series, and does not continue the main story.
