| When Joss Whedon wrote the story of 16 yr. old cheerleader-turned-vampire slayer, Buffy Summers, he didn't realize he'd spend a good amount of his life shaping a TV series that would instantly become a cult classic. This movie tells the origin of The Slayer and how Buffy meets her first Watcher, Merrick. Aside from the 80s get-up and the cheesy-but-classic approach to vampire lore, Whedon still exhibits his trademark wit and skill when dealing with teens and their woes. Don't expect top-of-the-line special effects though. The vampires don't get dusted here. I recommend renting this for hardcore Buffy and Angel fans. You'll get a kick from Luke Perry foreshadowing Xander Harris. |
