The story arc of the Love Hina anime series comes full circle with this animated romantic comedy-drama from Japan. Keitaro and Naru find their lives coming to a crossroad as they prepare to enter Tokyo University not long after finally acknowledging their feelings for one another. But Keitaro's life-long dream is pulled from his grasp when an accident forces him to postpone his entrance into college. With time on his hands, Keitaro signs up to help Mr. Seta on an archeological dig, while his stepsister takes over management of the Hinata Apartments and makes life miserable for all the students. When Keitaro finally returns, his real challenges begin, not only in the classroom but as he edges into a serious relationship with Naru, with all of their friends on hand to offer "helpful" advice. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

As Naru might say - Really Like but not sure I Love this Hina by cmeddins October 1, 2003 - 1:03 PM PDT

This is a continuation of the Love Hina Series and is actually three additional episodes and not a movie per se. You have to know the rest of the series to enjoy this. The Love Hina series grew on me fairly quickly. I went from thinking the human shooting star phenom was ridiculous to inspired. Maybe I just grew more into an anime fan (be prepared for strange looks from your significant other if you are of age). This three episode story arc has most of the familiar elements and does a nice job of bringing some closure to the relationship between Keitaro and Naru. The other existing relationships and characters are not highlighted as much as I would wish. This is due in large part to the introduction of an important new character. I would have liked more time for the other residents, especially Mitsune and Kaolla Su. Maybe another ep or two is needed. I've read in other notes that the Manga goes on a couple of books after this. Fanservice is probably at PG-13 level - about the same as the regular series - some girl on girl groping though nothing too explicit (bare buns was probably the extreme). Couple of dub goofs were a minor distraction (blow-out instead of blow-off for example) and it appears that some artist was in love with black squiggles under the eyes to give the impression of what - cheekbones? In several scenes the girls look like they have outfielder black grease under their eyes. Maybe there was a deleted baseball sequence. They had some short funny "outtakes" in the extras. Wish they had included more. I liked this DVD and would recommend to Love Hina fans.
