Renting this intitially to see if Mandy Moore acted like herself (which she does), I was surprised to see that Elijah busts open all bounderies of cuteness. So if you're a gay boy and just want to watch Elijah...this would be great for you...especially when he hangs out with the gay neighbor. But I warn you, gay boy, there is a scene with the photographer lady that will make you want to turn it off. Actually, all fans of Elijah who want to keep him all to themselves may want to fast forwarded that scene--hint it involves a motel room and the photographer lady. Nuff said.

ALL I WANT is among the dumb--and far too reminiscent--movie titles of recent years. "Try 17" (which was an earlier title for the same film) is also not too swift. The movie itself? Precious in the extreme, but after awhile it begins to grow on you. The cast is good, every last one of 'em, and as it meanders along, the movie begins to make sense. And then comes the utterly wrong-headed conclusion. Some producer must have said, "Oh, wait--we HAVE to have a happy ending!" (This movie is about a kid growing up, which ought to preclude "ending" while offering another step in the journey.) In any case, there have been a multitude of worse films lately, so if you're an inveterate movie-watcher, you won't necessarily have wasted your time here.
