Sparkling with one unforgettable, landmark animated marvel after another, there's that icon of carrot-crunching aplomb, Bugs Bunny, in a dazzling assortment of his very best classic shorts. Also highlighted in their own delightfully zany series of cartoon gems: the ever-flustered Daffy Duck and eternal straight-man Porky Pig. Plus, all the rest of the beloved Looney Tunes lineup starring in some of the most wildly imaginative cartoon shorts ever created! Including an array of exclusive bonus DVD features from expert commentaries to insights into the evolution of these classic characters, this is the ultimate animated experience for anyone who's ever thrilled to the timeless query: "Ehhh? what's up, Doc?"

Finally, the boxed set that we've been begging for since the invention of DVD is now a reality! For the first time in decades, the Looney Tunes cartoons are presented in their full, uncut, uncensored, original versions, as they were seen in theaters from the 1930s to the 1960s.
What? Uncensored? Who would want to censor Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and company? As you watch these cartoons, you will see just how heavily edited they were for TV. Even today, the Cartoon Network will only air the cut versions, which are edited to reduce the running time and remove objectionable content like violence, adult humor, and ethnic stereotypes.
Yes Virginia, these theatrical cartoons were made to entertain adults as well as children.
Looney Tunes began as Merrie Melodies, an animation company that rivaled Walt Disney's work. In fact, the name is a parody of Disney's Silly Symphonies cartoons. Originally owned and managed by Leon Schlesinger, then sold to Warner Brothers, Looney Tunes were known for their crazy, off the wall humor.
Schlesinger built a stable of some of the greatest animators of all time (Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Bob McKimson, Robert Clampett, etc.) and gave them the creative freedom to be as wild as they wanted to be. Their efforts, combined with the voice talent of Mel Blanc - who was a radio legend before he joined Looney Tunes - resulted in some of the greatest cartoons in the history of animation.
This massive box set features a whopping 56 Looney Tunes cartoons, each in its original, uncut version. Each cartoon runs about 7 to 8 minutes long - that's over 7 hours of cartoon madness! Not only that, but you get several informative documentaries on the making of Looney Tunes, technical shorts like pencil tests, and much more.
The video transfer is magnificent. Obviously, these prints have been digitally restored, and they look beautiful. After suffering through all those garbage quality prints on videotape, you won't believe your eyes! Audio tracks include the original mono, a new stereo mix, commentaries, Spanish and French dubs, and the ability to view certain cartoons without dialogue so you can really savor Carl Stalling's musical scores.
So see this boxed set today and enjoy all your favorite characters as they were meant to be seen - beautifully restored and totally untouched by censors' scissors! |
