Priya & Raj are two sides of a coin, as different as chalk and cheese. Raj and impulsive, middle class, hard-working emotional fellow who allows cupid to play havoc with his heartstrings, and Priya, a prim & proper, sophisticated & practical girl. Both are smart enough to see their differences because it is rather visible to the naked eye. They throw caution to the winds and dare to fall in love. And then suddenly the game changes, and so do the rules. The initial rush in your veins when you see a loved one becomes trying. The joy of cancelling an appointment to be with your lover remains, but it just becomes a bit impossible. Love sort of goes into the background..and the wound made by cupid's arrow begins to heal. The need to impress no longer exists. What does all this stand for? Cupid gone stupid or Cupid gone tepid? A tale of two hearts...Chalte Chalte walk along with us.

| The beginning of this film was good; typical Bollywood drama, although the songs are forgettable. Toward the end, Shah Rukh's character is so nasty and selfish to poor Rani that I really couldn't stand it. Also, I don't like the final message that this film sends about marriage. |

| The first hour of this film is everything one would expert from a Bollywood melodrama: love overcoming formidable odds, tradition, and inflexible parents. What amazed me about this film was the next two hours. The star-crossed lovers have trouble making their love work in the real world. The film both satisfies the desire for entertainingly impossible romance and comments upon the implausibility of that fantasy. I cannot imagine a Hollywood film taking this kind of angle on romance. I would have rated it higher, but I think the singing and dancing that are such a lovable part of Hindi cinema aren't stellar (but they serve their function). |
