when my friend scoffed at my intention to rent this, i thought he was just being a snob (despite his ownership of the original cannonball run). wow; did i underestimate how bad this movie could be...
while the plot for the first was thin, it didn't really matter. this time, it seems that they wanted to introduce more complexity (why bother?), and it just fails miserably- somehow two days worth of events happen between LA and Vegas, with the rest of the country scrunched into the last five minutes.
basically all the same sight gags and character types are included, but the way they play together is strained, implausible, distracting and downright annoyingly stupid, as opposed to quirky, fun and silly like the first CR.
don't bother with this; even the big star cameos and the outtakes at the end are lame.
