Naysayers could say the whole movie is a cliche of the wuxia genre. Others might say its an unoriginal rip-off. I say its probably the greatest of the last wuxia films (now that CGI and better writing are emerging from Hong Kong). And Michelle Yeoh is just too hot for words. The action is great, the plot is typical of the films, and the sets are amazing. As the predecessor to Crouching Tiger, Hollwood Wannabe (which I adored), its a definite must rent for the avid Kung Fu movie addict and for those who are just getting started. Now, I am old school fu myself, but I appreciated this film and hope you will, too! |
