I was shown this anime in my public highschool history class. This anime contains some of the most disturbing animation I've ever seen, and it scares me even more when I learned it is accurate to a real atomic bomb attack.
Many times in the film you see things not explained, but that were reported by the survivors: the ants fleeing the city before the attack, the horse running down a street on fire, terrible affects of radiation poisioning.
We were grateful our teacher had shared with us the true meaning of the carnage that an atomic bomb carries. This should be required veiwing for everyone. |
| The best anime for grownups. |

| I was all ready on the road to utter otaku-ism when I saw this great, great anime at the last independent theater here in Austin, Texas some years ago. This is the one anime I alway recommend to anyone who is an adult and who has never seen an anime. A sad, serious, yet also inspiring tale. Drawn from the film maker own life as child surviving the first time a nuclear weapon was ever used in battle. Highly recommended - but please dear God, not for children. It is too real and the world can be a horrible, horrible place. |
