Synopsis
Seemingly content living the life of a derelict, former mercenary Nick (Dolph Lundgren) agrees -- reluctantly and only after he is offered a large fortune from two mining company executives -- to gather up a unit of fellow soldiers of fortune and fly to the island of Jakarta in order to convince local peasants to give up their land. Once he arrives, Nick sees soldiers burn a peasant village. When he learns that the bloodshed is not for the control of such riches as uranium or jade, but for an ancient deposit of bat guano, he changes his alliance and begins fighting for the natives. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Not too bad, considering by Texan99 September 5, 2010 - 2:44 PM PDT

I found this Lundgren vehicle surprisingly entertaining. It begins like any of a thousand hard-body grim shoot-em-up fantasies but veers off course when Lundgren encounters the villagers of the island he's supposed to pacify for the usual multi-national corporation bad guys. The lovely exotic heroine tries to arouse his moral sense. He replies, predictably, that if he doesn't do the job, the company will send someone else who will. She says, "When they come, I'll talk to them. Right now I'm talking to you." From then on it becomes a rather cutrate version of "Farewell to the King," but still worth watching and miles above the ordinary fare of its type. Added pleasures include B.D. Wong, an asset to any movie.
