This review is for the two-disc series.

This anime boasts lush, detailed artwork which evokes memories of El-Hazard, and the primary antagonist is as powerful and evasive as the creature from The Thing, or even Alien.

I wanted to give this a 6.5 rating because it's better than a 6, but not quite a 7. Being only 2 discs long, the pacing is fairly even untiil the end, where I found myself wanting more.

Iria is a newly licensed bounty huntress who is VERY mature for her age. I lost count of how many weapons she's expert at. After losing someone very close during a job, she tries to continue her life as a professional, only to meet up once again with Zeiram, the very thing that caused her loss.

The supporting cast is a bit cliche, but they are lively, and the voice actors do a good job conveying the emotional intensity required for the very well done battle sequences. There is comedy, and quite a bit of tragedy among the many surprises and plot twists. Made in 1994, this anime holds up surprisingly well.

Note to fanboys: Although there is very little fan-service, and her character design is a decade old, Iria remains one of the more attractive female lead characters I have ever seen in an anime, right down to the Cindy Crawford-like mole on her face. We get variations of her gorgeous facial profile every few minutes or so, almost as if she's "VOGUE"ing for the camera.

Good for us.
