| Some of the best camp ever |

| A friend reviewed this movie for me when it first came out: "Good blood, needs more guts." I didn't think it needed a thing: it's perfect as is. For campy, well-produced fun, it's up there with another of my favorites, "Flash Gordon." (Max von Sydow apparently has a preternatural ability to spot which ridiculous fantasy movies will be made into entertainment gold.) Arnold, of course, is ideal, as is James Earl Jones, but the minor characters are wonderfully cast as well, especially the Queen of Thieves. I was only sorry the sequel and spin-offs didn't hold up to the excellent quality of this original. |

| its kind of slow. not much happens in between short scenes of arnold hacking people up with a big sword. But waiting until the end is worth it. best decapitation scene in film history. |
