After missing the recent Godzillafest at the Castro Theater- I am watching as many of the venerable icons dvd's as possible. This is a magnificent example of why Godzilla is so popular even after all of these years- Why? Because the films are fun, lighthearted and full of innocent hilarity. It really is a peek into the psyche of the Japanese nation. Also sometimes political- like when Godzilla fries the UN building? Is there something to that scene? Beautiful sets, all your favorite monsters, hot Japanese actresses in "futuristic costumes," many gaping plot holes. What more can you ask for?

My 4 year old brother has seen this movie 3 times in the last 3 days. He likes seeing Godzilla, Baby Godzilla (Manilla), Rodan, Mothra and Anguirus. The three-headed dragon (King Ghidoran) is the bad guy. My little brother likes baby Godzilla the best. He likes the part where Baby Godzilla screams "because he thinks his Daddy is going to get dead". Mommy doesn't like the parts where the men are shooting at each other. So we fast forward through those parts. Sometimes we just fast forward through all the talking parts and just watch the monsters.
