Genre: Travel
Running Time: 35 min.

Synopsis
When most think of Hawaii, most conjure up images of white sandy beaches teeming with buxom tourists or hula girls in grass skirts. Hidden Hawaii strays from the more narrow view of Hawaii and ventures into the shadowed treasures of the 50th state. Originally filmed in IMAX, this video is a breathtaking tour of the secrets of Hawaii. Director Robert Hillman takes the camera up the 10,000 foot cliffs (the highest sea cliffs in the world) of Haleakala Crater to witness the blooming of the silversword (a plant that only blooms once a decade) and then down 4,000 feet below the surface of the ocean to investigate a continuing volcanic eruption that has given rise to a new island, Loihi. All in all, the viewer is given a top to bottom look at the Hawaiian islands that most people never see from the beach chairs and hotel balconies. ~ Ed Atkinson, All Movie Guide
