Synopsis
Day of the Dead, the third and concluding chapter in George Romero's zombie trilogy is the most distinctly 1950s-style science fiction version of the lot. Set in Florida, as the film begins the dead have taken over the world, outnumbering humans 400,000 to one. The handful of surviving humans have taken refuge in an underground missile silo and argue and yell at each other like players in a Rod Serling Twilight Zone episode. Among the survivors are Sarah (Lori Cardille) -- a scientist who is trying to reverse the process whereby the dead turn into flesh-eating, irrational zombies -- and Dr. Logan (Richard Liberty) -- an out-of-his-mind psychologist who wants to capture the zombies and turn them into domestic help. Things heat up when the military tries to take over the scientific experiments. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Not a stellar movie, but a good go between for "Dawn..." and "Land..." by orius1 August 23, 2008 - 2:29 AM PDT

While this particular movie isn't the best and brightest example of Romero's portfolio of work, the underlying commentary suggested within the movie (morally justified subjegation) does come across well enough for most fans of the series to pick up on. Additionally, for the completists out there (eg., those that watch every film in the series for the sake of doing so), this movie does help some of the commentary and tone for "Land of the Dead" in so far that the concept of self-awareness despite being undead is taken to an even higher level than the one that's established in this film. While the film itself is not the most pleasing film to watch for its acting, the visuals presented in the middle and towards the end of the film are actually pretty good insofar that they are no worse than those in "Dawn of the Dead". Ultimately, if you're looking for a reason to watch, bear in mind that the allegory presented by Romero in this film is meant to bridge those presented in "Dawn..." and "Land...", respectively.

Third movie in the series. Worst movie in the series. The best performance in the film was from the actor who played "Bob" the zombie and he didn't have any lines.

such a horrible dissapointment after dawn of the dead. If you have seen the first two and love them this review will not stop you, but this movie sucks. Romero had lost creative control as I understand it, but that doesn't explain the awefull acting and cheesy script. The dialogue is so bad, and if makes you feel dumb for watching it
