| Even if you can't stand Stephen King, you should realize that his earlier work is both fresher and more tightly plotted than the last 30 or so titles he's cranked out. "The Dead Zone" doesn't break any cinematic or intellectual ground, but it's a fine tale. Who knew Christopher Walken could play a guy with recognizably human emotions, even when directed by the icy Cronenberg and playing in a moderately trashy horror story? This is solid science fiction, a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end, with characters you'll like getting to know. |
