Against all odds, especially in the 1600s, Artemisia struggles to succeed in her craft. More talented than many of her male colleagues, she still must overcome many barriers. The scenery in this movie is also artfully presented -- I had the sense that I was sitting in front of an old master much of the time.

Recommended.
