| This is not a good movie for a few reasons: 1, Stiller is in no way an actor who can pull off the casual look of incessant dread of a junkie, nor the depth of feeling of a recovering, rather broken man. 2, the script was rather needlessly thin, given the material they were starting from. 3, the whole movie was forced and posey, probably because it was a first film for the director. Alas. Read the autobiography by Stahl instead--it is pretty dark and funny. |
