| A very odd and somewhat interesting movie drawn from the the writings of Robert Walser. I'm sure Institute Benjamenta would have been more interesting if I had any familiarity with Walser's writings - which have had an influence on such philosophers as Kafka and Hess. I found the Quays' stop motion films to be slightly less obscure and much more accessible. Institute Benjamenta (like any decent form of art, I suppose) defies pigeon-holing or comparison with other films, but I found it slow and rather ambiguous... |
