| This movie was a total fake-out. If you love watching Cirque du Soleil's amazing, virtually inhuman acrobats, balancing acts, contortions, feats of strength and coordination then you'll need to rent a different movie--you'll get only the barest glimpses of any of these performances. I would suggest Dralion if you want to see Cirque in its glory. With Alegria, Franco Dragone (the director) decided to focus on the emotions behind the circus, to tell the story of the forming of Cirque du Soleil, which could have made a nice featurette on another DVD, but this is all told with the incomprehensible farcical French flair that make Cirque so much fun, but is much less entertaining in a over long "Romantic Drama". Besides, they focus too much on the clowns....man I hate clowns. |
