| Blacks, whites, gays, straights: why can't we all just get along?! There are a number of reasons, actually, but don't you worry: By the end of DEFYING GRAVITY, everyone gets along just fine. If you are looking for another of those lobotomize-to-feel-good gay films that Wolfe Video seems so proud of, this one is for you. It announces every theme at least twice then spells it out for those who need more help. It stars very attractive actors (who aren't bad, given the scripts and direction), and supplies immense doses of tinkly piano music at all the sentimental moments (many, many). I have to admit to coming close to being moved a couple of times myself, but there is something so sadly amateur about movies like this that it squashes any honest feeling dead in its tracks. |
