| Glad to see an adult version of the age old creepy tale, instead of some candy coated Disney affair. The combination of first-rate special effects (with the exception of one flagrant rip-off taken from Jim Carrey's "The Mask") and smoky old New England atmospherics worked well together, successfully walking the thin and somewhat schizophrenic line between black comedy and true horror. Johnny Depp's portrayal of Ichabod Crane as a somewhat incompetent and timid detective was an interesting choice. Another plus was the hell-bound horseman who looked like a cross between a young and pissed-off Christopher Walken and Johnny Rotten. Not to be watched while under the influence of inhalants or LSD. |
