| This anime is not for the staunchiest anime lover, but it's good for the average anime lover. If you want to try to get into hentai, this anime can help in your transition. It's funny. Main character is an arrogant blowhard, but you got to enjoy him. That's why he's called the "Bastard!" |

The movie reflects the main character, Darsh: unmet potential, rudeness, overly grandiouse, pretentious dialog (at least in the English dub), too much "fan service" and some very long, drawn-out scenes. If you are looking for a serious anime or a comedy, this aint it.
If you can get through it, there are amusing moments with "inside" anime jokes, poking fun at itself and the genre. A little more humor could have improved this one; it gets 5 stars. |

| I have to reluctantly admit that this one of my favorite anime DVDs that I own. I'm reluctant because it is not particularly good. It's so over the top on some of the typical anime silliness that I wonder if it is not spoofing other anime. However, I forgive it of all that because it has some of my favorite one-liners (almost all from Dark Schneider). If you can get past the thin (and over-used in anime) plot and the fan-service (the term used for brief and silly nudity and panty shots in anime), then this can be a very fun show to watch. -FDGUARINO |

| Basic sword and sorcery fantasy, where the wizards throw spells at each other and the girls jiggle. The action was good enough to keep me interested and the plot moved at a fair pace, although it was predictable. What annoyed me were the softporn touches (for example, Tia the well-endowed virgin priestess is captured and put into a pit, where slime starts oozing up her body dissolving her clothes) and the obvious boy-adolescent catering -- Dark Schneider is all-powerful so no matter how horrible it gets, he'll always triumph, and then there are the three main female characters who aren't jealous that Dark Schneider "loves" them all. This anime reminded me of Saturday morning fare with adult violence and no depth. This DVD does contain all 6 episodes of the series. |
