First off, a little disclaimer. I love Mandy Moore.
That being said, I loved this movie. Before you conclude that that is a direct consequence of my first statement, let me also say that I did *not* enjoy "How to Deal" (another Mandy Moore movie). This one however... was, in a word, charming.
Mandy Moore is absolutely perfect as the President's daughter. Unless your heart is made of stone, you will absolutely fall in love with her angsty antics, her sweet demeanor, and her upbeat attitude. I know many of you reading this are skeptical -- but quite honestly, I've never watched a film that made me feel so good. Chasing Liberty is the ultimate "feel-good" film, and a great deal of its success lies in the fact that it does not stretch itself and try to be anything more than that. If you are looking for a pick-me-up, to be entertained for 2 hours, a movie to watch with a date, or anything "just for fun", this film will do just nicely. |
