Jessica suffers from a strange fever that causes her to remain in a state of mental paralysis. Jessica's lover desperately wants her to be cured. A nurse begins taking steps to cure the woman by organizing a voodoo ceremony with the locals, an idea that may prove to be a bad one in the end. Directed by the great Jacques Tourneur and produced by Val Lewton, this 1943 film remains one of the most elegant excursions the horror film ever took, combining dreamlike photography with primal realism and near absurdity at times.
Also included on this disc is the equally rare Tourneur/Lewton horror film THE LEOPARD MAN.
This title is only legitimately available as a DVD-R.
Unfortunately, some older DVD players are unable to play this disc. If (or when) another version becomes available, we will replace all copies of the film at that time.
