Somewhat reminiscent of the Thin Man franchise, this film takes us into the glamorous world of a gentleman jewel thief, preying on the British aristocracy between the wars. A tight, well-made eighty minute drama complete with requisite song and dance number and a somewhat creepy (to modern eyes) element of romance between the superbly strange looking leading man Tom Walls, here in his mid-fifties, and the coquettish Lilli Palmer, here in her early twenties.

Spats, champagne, stolen pearls, cut-glass accents, a leading man with more sang-froid than you can shake a stick at, this film has it all. Strongly recommended to those who enjoy such things.
