TV-movie perennial Ted Post served as director for the low-budget theatrical feature The Baby. Ruth Roman plays a boozy nutcase who, out of hatred for the husband who ran out on her years earlier, forces her teenaged son David Manzy to dress and behave like an infant. Social worker Anjanette Comer, understandably put off by the sight of a fully-grown Manzy chewing on his toes in a playpen, sets about to rescue the boy. When sinister forces try to claim the "baby" from Comer, she resorts to murder. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The plot was actually pretty good, but nobody has given the correct synopsis yet. It is about a mom AKA Mommy Dearest and 2 evil half sisters. The mom is not sick and the baby does not kill anyone. The movie is about the mother struggling to keep the baby (and her welfare checks) from a pesky social worker who interferes. There are a couple good scenes in the film, most notably, a babysitter that breastfeeds the "Baby" and gets caught by the family. The mother commences with whooping her tail like a bad girl. There is a scene where one of the sisters climbs into the crib with the Baby for a little "playtime", but of course does not show anything. The ending had 2 suprise twists. The first one I kinda caught on to, but the second I was not expecting. Somewhat of a psychological thriller. Everyone has issues in this film. |

I recent saw this movie and the synopsis is wrong. The mother does not become sick and the The Baby does not go on a murdering spree. Although there are murders in the movie and i won't spoil it by saying who does them, and there is a surprise ending.
I would have liked it if there was more action. But the violent ending is very fun and twisted. |
