The landscape of the Pumpkin Scissors continues to expand in this third volume of the anime series that presents a parallel universe to the post-WWII Europe of the 1940s. The rich continue to live off the profits of war while the rest of society remains in chaos and poverty--despite Malvin and his team's constant efforts to restore order to the land. In this volume, Oreld befriends a prostitute whose brother fought alongside him in the war. Then, when Alice gets kidnapped, the plot begins to thicken as we learn more about the past lives of the team before the cease-fire was finally called. It's high drama, with enough atmosphere and comic moments to keep anime fans hooked to this addictive series.
