Shaun of the Dead back to product details

I couldn't watch it

Maybe it's my fault, but I had to eject this after only ten minutes.
First, I have a hearing impairment and I could not interpret the British accents. So I went to activate subtitles. It said there we're six subtitle tracks, but refused to let me select any of them. "Not Available" indeed!

The menus were unnavigable (couldn't tell where the cursor was); the previews didn't let me skip to the next preview; etc. Annoying.

BTW, I have a top-of-the-line, new BLu-Ray player so I can't blame my equipment. Maybe I needed a British player???

Leave it to the Brits to make a romantic comedy zombie film and make it work. A horror comedy with a romantic subplot. If you like British humor, you will like this film. There is a lot of dry, subtle humor which you will miss if you don't pay attention. Very well done.

Not just for gore fans

This movie has its technical acheivements that need mentioning. Watch the continuous shot as Shaun (Pegg) walks to the market on his way to work. The day before and the day and the day after the zombie invasion--continuity.

Also, this is some of the best buddy comedy around. What a team these guys make. Great timing.

Welcome the ZomCom

With SHAUN OF THE DEAD, a new movie genre is born: the zombie comedy (guess we'll have to call it, what...? zomcom? zomedy?). Consistently funny, bracingly gross, and a pleasant change from the spate of other zombie movies this year (most of which were actually not bad), this one's a winner--if you have anything remotely resembling a British sense of humor. It'll also help to have some affection for the zombie genre (they walk slow, they don't have good balance, they nibble live flesh). If you answer "yes" to either of the above, you're already queuing up and are likely to have a very good time with this Brit hit. The denouement, in particular, is inspired.
