| The title of my review sums it up. While it is undoubtedly priceless for having captured interviews with many of the performers and technical people who worked with him and are likely no longer around, probably 3/4 of the film consists of these interviews, with the remainder being mostly stills of presumably lost or unavailable in English films, and brief clips from a handful of the films. Although it is very good for finding out more about the man and his methods of film making, it is offers frustratingly little footage to show what a great director he was. Just watch his films instead and hope that more of them will be become available on DVD. |
